X20 SAVES TIME AND MONEY!

Wee Waa, NSW, Australia, December 2004: Wee-Waa contractor of 35 years Peter Meek claims that without his X20 system he could no longer operate his business: "If I had to go back to the old silly way I don't think I could… I'm at the stage where I couldn't do without it (X20)".

Peter utilises a full X20 system that includes a guidance system, spray monitor/controller, variable rate control application, and Maplink, an application mapping capability, complete with download facilities.

When asked what convinced him to purchase the X20 system 5 years ago Peter replied, "Money didn't even come into it. I wanted something that would think the way I did, and the X20 does. Looking at the screen is just like looking out the side of the tractor", he said.

Peter Meek's spray rig comprises a 24m Silvan Turbomiser air shear boom with nozzles at 1m intervals, attached to a John Deere 7510 hi-crop tractor on 46in. (1168mm) wheels to cater for spraying in high cotton crops, "It's a really good setup I've got now".

"I couldn't go past it… The touch screen is beaut. There's not another unit around that comes close to Topcon," he said. "It makes the job so much easier… It just doesn't let me down."

Peter estimates he covers 20,000 Hectares a year, and that his X20 system saves him approximately 20% of his time and money. Peter attributes his savings to the accuracy and reliability of the X20 system.

"It's just spot on. I don't have to count rows anymore…and it's that accurate I can't believe it.

"We spray when we can… and sometimes there's not enough time. At least with X20 I can use the time I've got and know I'm doing the job well. I don't have to waste time worrying about over spraying and finding where I left off if I have to stop for some reason," he added.

Peter has been so impressed by the Topcon products and service he recently decided to start recommending the system to others.

"I try to sell them to other farmers in the area… I've sold one already and hopefully another two in the future.

Not only does Peter sing the praises of the Topcon products but also the Topcon service claiming, "You just don't get that sort of old fashion service anymore."

"If the rig breaks down… I just ring and there's someone out here by the morning."

"The staff are really good over the phone, usually if there's a problem it's because I did something wrong, it's not the machines fault, and they can almost always fix it over the phone."

Today, Peter Meek Spraying Services boasts a customer base of cotton, cereal, mung and faba bean growers, in an area ranging from Wee Waa in the south to Narrabri in the north, "We operate just about anywhere south of the Namoi River," he said.

Peter summed up his opinion of the Topcon products by saying, "It's just good gear…top stuff."
