X20:
Just Brilliant On a farm that covers approximately 12 000 acres in Esperance, 450 miles South East of Perth, Doc estimates his X20 system has cut down his paddock sizes by 5%, " and that equates to a 5% saving in overlap, input, time, maintenance, fertilizers, seed and fuel. "The guidance
system makes everything more efficient, now we can tramline the whole
place, run everything up and back. It's so much easier this way." Although, it's not just the product and it's capabilities that attracted Doc to Topcon and the X20 system, the staff and level of service also played a major role in Doc's decision to use Topcon. "The staff are always positive and really cooperative. They're open to ideas and suggestions, if I want my X20 to do something I tell the guys and next thing I know they're showing me a new feature. They're willing to try anything that will make the system more flexible", he said. Doc was the first Western Australian to own a X20 X10 with Spray Rate Control on a Burando Hill/Air Tech Sprayer. Doc now has X20 Guidance with Spray rate Control and Auto Section Control over CASE AIM Command on a Case Self propelled sprayer, X20 Guide and 4 Channel Electric Drive Retro Fitted to Gason Air Seeder, which completed a full farm prescription Variable Rate program last season and X20 Guide and Spreader Control on Marshall Multi-spreader using Hydraulic conveyor drive via a Danfoss Hydraulic Regulator Valve. "We've just put another system on our main tractor and it just controls everything. It controls our variable rate seeder and our variable rate spreader and we plan to use it to guide and control our Inter-row Hooded sprayer. "The flexibility is amazing, we just change a plug. It's so easy and it controls all implements. Doc has been using Topcon Precision Agriculture equipment for the past 4 years and is thrilled with the outcome of his investment. "I'm very happy. The system's been very reliable; it hasn't been touched since it was installed", he said,"I would absolutely recommend the system to others". Doc's farm is made up of all soil types, from heavy clays to sand and sandy gravels. He farms canola, wheat, barley and lupins in that order of priority. According to Doc the X20 system not only helps him when he's actually in the field but also when he's attempting to Topconp track of things from home. "The system's great for record Topconping. We use the coverage maps a lot." Doc is currently looking into adding X20 spray control on Swather Sprayer Cart and Multiple Tank liquid control on a Shielded Sprayer to his collection of Topcon products. When asked to predict
the benefits of X20 in the future Doc replied, "I'm confident that
no matter what kind of a year [we have] X20 will definitely help us."
Doc concluded, "It's all just brilliant [X20]. It really is an amazing
thing". For more information
