GMS-2 for Ag Optons:
BR-1 Receiver
The new BR-1 is the companion to
the popular GMS-2 mapping/imaging
device from Topcon. The BR-1 is
designed to relay Coast Guard
Beacon corrections wirelessly to
the GMS-2 receiver for increased
accuracy. Running on common
rechargeable batteries to the
GMS-2 the BR-1 will provide added
fl exibility and accuracy to the GMS-2
mapping system.
Farmworks - Farm Site Mate Scout
- Automatically assign sample ID’s to each point.
- Enter unlimited attributes such as scouting notes, types of weeds,
date, types of insects, or intensity for mapped areas and points.
- Includes tools for navigating to gridded points or known point in a field.
- Map wet holes, weed/insect infestations, and other areas of, interest.
- Saves data in ASCII, ArcView Shape File or MapInfo Interchange File formats.
TopPAD Software
A mobile GIS data collection system which supports a multi-layer environment with industry-standard vector map and raster image display.
- Work in native shapefi le formats - eliminates converting to unique field data file formats

GMS-2 for AG
Topcon engineers have incorporated our industry leading dual-constellation satellite tracking into a small hand-held GPS receiver, the new GMS-2.
This innovative new system also provides an integrated electronic compass and digital camera powered by Topcon’s revolutionary imaging technology. This powerful combination of dual-constellation satellite performance and digital imaging technology has set a new standard for GIS field mapping.
GMS-2 features:
- Dual-Constellation Satellite Tracking
- Integrated Digital Camera & Electronic Compass
- Customized Field Software
- Internal Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
- Ultra Sharp Color TFT Touch Screen
Powered by Topcon’s TPSCORE® GPS chip technology, the GMS-2 provides 50 channel tracking capability, for both GPS+ Glonass satellite systems. The TPSCORE® chip technology also provides dual-purpose signal tracking for either meter-level GIS mapping applications, or single frequency carrier tracking for high accuracy static positioning. With an optional external L1 antenna and Topcon Tools High Accuracy post-processing module, the GMS-2 can achieve accuracies better than 1 cm.
In addition to post-processed DGPS capabilities, the GMS-2 can utilize external correction services for real-time DGPS mapping and navigation applications. The GMS-2 provides access to the WAAS and EGNOS correction services as a standard feature. Using its internal Bluetooth connection, the GMS-2 can be configured to connect to a regional GPS reference station network using a Bluetooth Dial-Up networking enabled cell phone. When utilizing the optional Topcon BR-1 Beacon Receiver, the GMS-2 can correct its raw GPS location using a Coast Guard Beacon real-time correction service for increased real-time location mapping and navigation accuracies.
A significant advantage of the GMS-2 is its ability to perform multiple roles. With its Windows CE® operating system, a GMS-2 can run software such as Topcon TopPAD software for advanced GIS data collection and maintenance.
For agricultural applications, we offer a choice between- Farm Site Mate Scout and TopPad to provide excellent mapping and scouting solutions. The GMS-2 can be used as either a stand alone GIS receiver, or part of an integrated survey system, providing flexibility not found in competing systems.
With the revolutionary integration of a digital camera into a hand-held GPS unit, users can now automatically attach and store photographs to a location in the field. This increases the functionality of the system, while decreasing the amount of equipment a user has to carry and configure.
A significant advantage of the GMS-2 is its ability to perform multiple roles. With its Windows CE® operating system, a GMS-2 can also be configured to be a field controller running the full suite of Topcon’s TopSURV software to work with total stations and RTK GPS systems. With the addition of the GPS+ & GIS modules for TopSURV, the GMS-2 can be used as either a stand alone GIS receiver, or as part of an integrated system, providing flexibility not found in competing systems.
